Patty to host "Echte Meisjes 3"?

According to Dutch media experts, Patty Brard would host in early 2013 the third season of "Echte Meisjes" (Real girls), a program produced by Eyeworks and aired on RTL 5 featuring former female candidates of reality shows who have to accomplish missions and win a €50.000 prize. If the news was confirmed, it would be Patty's comeback on RTL 5 (formerly Yorin). Between 2001 and 2006, Miss Brard was indeed a reality queen with shows such as "Big Brother 3: The Battle", "Patty's Posse", "Patty's Fort", "Pat's Life", "Lieve Patty" and "Back in Luv'". Soon the TV personality will appear on SBS 6/Eyeworks panel game "Van je vrienden moet je het hebben" hosted by Pop singer "Do" with Ron and Rick Brandsteder as team captains (see news posted on September 17th 2012).

Patty's dive used as a publicity stunt worldwide

Reinout Oerlemans

Yesterday, TV producer and presenter Reinout Oerlemans was interviewed by Mathijs van Nieuwkerk on VARA/Nederland 3's talk show "De Wereld Draait Door". Oerlemans is the happy CEO of Eyeworks, a production company which develops many formats worldwide including "Sterren Springen op zaterdag", SBS 6 celebrity diving competition featuring Patty Brard. The young business man told that he used "Patty's failed dive" (see news posted on August 29th 2012) as a publicity stunt to promote "Celebrity splash" (the international name of "Sterren Springen") to Australian, American, British, German, French and Belgian networks. The success of this program took everybody by surprise. Indeed it was the absolute Nr. 1 show during the opening weekend of the new TV season last month with 1.4 million viewers and a market share of 26.8% in the target group 20-49. No matter what La Brard does, she is a real TV ratings magnet!!!

Nikolai Geworg Khatchatouryan, Elena, Hans van Hemert proudly present "Choc Au Lit"

Hans van Hemert is the lucky record producer who created Luv' in 1976. He co-wrote with Piet Souer all the hits performed by "Holland's most successful girl group". In addition to the exploitation of an impressive back catalogue (Luv', Mouth & MacNeal, Sandra & Andres, American Gypsy, Guys & Doll, Vulcano, André Hazes....), Van Hemert's studio also releases jingles, TV tunes, children's music and music downloads. Recently, Hans has produced two songs: Call me baby, an electro-rock track and Choc Au Lit by Elena, an electro-house single. Marga Scheide ambassador for Podencoworld

It's hard to find news about Marga Scheide on internet and particularly on Google News. The former Luv' vocalist is virtually non-existent on social networks. The beautiful blonde singer has retired from show business after the group's break-up. Sometimes she gives interviews to celebrity gossip magazines (see news posted on August 30th) or posed for photo shoots. Recently she told that she would develop an exchange program with artists from Ibiza. Thanks to a message posted today on her fansite (hosted on Clubs.nl), I've found out that since April, Marga has been an ambassador for Podencoworld (a foundation which protects and promotes Podencos, agile dogs of the hound family). Dutch singer Imca Marina has joined the same cause.

Secret Love by José: 30th Anniversary

1982 was a fabulous year in the solo career of José Hoebee. One year after Luv's break-up, the singer scored a #1 hit with her cover version of "I Will Follow Him" in Holland and Belgium (see article posted on July 2nd 2002). The follow-up single "Secret Love" was also popular. José's recipe for success was to perform American classic hits from the 1950's and 1960's. Indeed, the artist was nicknamed "the cover queen".

Song History

Secret Love was a song originally performed by Doris Day in the film "Calamity Jane" in 1953. The track was written by Sammy Fain and Paul Francis Webster. It received an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1954. It reached the number one spot on both the Billboard and Cash Box charts in the USA. The record was also a chart topper in the UK. Many international recording artists (including Connie Francis, Kim Weston & Marvin Gaye, Freddy Fender, George Michael, Viola Wills, Mandy Moore, Engelbert Humperdinck,  and K.d Lang) covered the song.

Secret Love by Doris Day

José's version of Secret Love was produced by Pim Koopman (ex-member of Dutch band "Kayak" and producer of the iconic sister duo "Maywood") and released by CNR/Carrere Record. It entered the Dutch singles chart on September 18th 1982. The hit single later peaked at #11 on the Dutch Top 40, #14 on the Nationale Hitparade in Holland, #3 on the BRT Top 30 and #4 on the Flemish Ultratop 50. It even reached #19 on the Europarade (a list combining the charts of ten European countries).

Patty Brard on Ron Brandsteder's new TV show

Ron Brandsteder and his sons

Patty Brard will soon appear on SBS 6 forthcoming show "Van je vrienden moet je het hebben" hosted by Ron Brandsteder and his son Rick. The diva will be under hypnosis for the purposes of the program which will be taped next week. Recently, Ron promoted his new TV project on the Radio 538 show "Evers staat op" and said: "It's a panel game with two teams. Rick and me will be team captains. A celebrity guest will be under hypnosis and will go through difficult situations. We have to forecast what he or she will do, that's how we score points".
Ron and Patty have known each other for many years. They got married on July 31. 1979 when the Luv' girls reached their heights of success. They divorced eight months later but remained on speaking terms.

Sterren Springen: the final

Liza Sips: winner of Sterren Springen

The final of "Sterren springen op zaterdag" drew 1.333.000 viewers (market share: 21.1%) yesterday evening. Dutch actress Liza Sips won the SBS 6 diving competition. Though she was eliminated last week, Patty Brard executed a dive to raise funds via SMS charity donations for a 6-year old boy (Reinout) diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Her fiancé Antoine van de Vijver and her showbiz friend Patricia Paay were there to support her. Her dive went wrong but she dared to do it. Congratulations!
Two days ago, the TV personality appeared with Gerard Joling on "Shownieuws" to promote "Sterren Springen" but also to congratulate Viktor Brand who hosted the entertainment news show for the very last time.

Patty Vs Daphne?

According to "De Telegraaf", a conflict between Patty Brard and Daphne Jongejans (a former Olympic diver and judge on "Sterren dansen op zaterdag") occured recently. The story has been published in the "Privé" section of Holland's most popular newspaper. The catfight would have cost Miss Brard her elimination from the diving competition. Daphne denied the incident and the ex-Luv' singer said about it: "This is a fabulous family program and I think it's a pity I can't go on. Otherwise, I don't want to make any comments about it"

Breaking news: Patty back on "Sterren Springen"

Gerard Joling revealed yesterday in a radio interview on "Coen en Sander Show" on 3FM that his friend Patty Brard would dive again on saturday on "Sterren springen op zaterdag" despite her elimination from the competition last week (see news posted September 10th 2012). The diva confirmed the news on her Twitter account. She accepts to do it to raise funds for a young boy (Reinout) who suffers from cancer.

Patty eliminated from "Sterren springen"

1.432.000 viewers (market share: 25%) watched the semi-final of "Sterren springen op zaterdag" on SBS 6 on September 8th. Patty Brard was eliminated from the diving competition as well as Kelly van der Veer, Liesbeth Kamerling and Adje. The diva showed off temporary tattoos for her dive.

Jody Bernal, Liza Sips, Dirk Taat, Raynor Arkenhout, Ralf Mackenbach and Yuri van Gelder are through to the final on saturday. Patty's participation in the successful SBS 6 program meant a lot of exposure in the media. The question is : will La Brard host her own TV show after that? Everybody remembers her funny performance on "Sterren dansen op het ijs" five years ago. This highly-covered media event brought the TV personality a contract with SBS and boosted her career for a couple of years. She hosted "Shownieuws" (2007-2011) and appeared on popular talent shows such as "De Nieuwe Uri Geller" (2008-2010) and "K2 Zoekt K3" (2009). Let's hope that the former Luv' singer will take advantage of the "Sterren springen" effect!

I would like to pay tribute to Patty because she dares to be different and she doesn't care about criticism. I admire her positive force, her energy and her humour. She's far from being a "desperate housewive". She has a real power to attract the media and the public. Bravo!!!

Patty not angry with SBS 6 anymore

More than a year after her dismissal from Shownieuws, Patty Brard is not angry with SBS 6 anymore. That's what the diva told Story magazine. In 2011, she wanted to sue the TV network but she didn't.  According to insiders, Patty had to leave the program because of problems with the editorial staff. She later considered her former colleagues as "incompetent". The entertainer was at first bitter about SBS 6 but she overcame her pain. Now she's a star on the channel's latest hit "Sterren springen op zaterdag".

José's message to her fans

Recently José Hoebee posted a message on her official fansite. She thanked her fans for her "warm feelings" and explained that she had to think about her future. The singer would like to go back to her "Folk & Country" roots but first she has to recover and solve the problems caused by the death of her husband. I wish her good luck and I'm sure she will overcome her difficulties.

Please find below a translation of her message:

Dear friends,
after a couple of months I started to read the forum again. Your warm feelings make me feel better. Will's passing is unbearable. I can't stand it anymore and all the problems linked with it make it harder. I appeared on TV programs because I have to think about the future. And although it seemed impossible, Albert Verlinde and Carlo gave me a lot of support. They promised to help me when I was ready to consider a new career. Kenny, you're right, I don't have to think that I will score a new hit again. I'm too old for that. Moreover, I don't dare to appear on programs like "swimming" (José is mentioning "Sterren springen" with Patty Brard) or whatever. "Once I had...", the song that I played at Will's memorial, caused such a chain reaction that I plan to perform this repertoire again. Even for a smaller audience. Because I don't see myself, as a solo artist, with a petticoat and a bustier on stage. I did it with Luv' just for fun.
But I'm far from being prepared for this. First all the problems have to be solved before the relaunch of my career. Your support makes me feel better. I have to go on. With Tim. He's my hero! I get a lot of help from real friends. But don't be misled: Marga and Patty are also kind to me. They are also real friends. No matter what they (the journalists) are writing. I hope that you will hear from me again. But first I have to get over Willy's loss.
Best regards,
José
