Patty's criticism of Mari van de Ven

Patty Brard criticized Holland's most famous make-up artist Mari van de Ven  in her latest column published in Weekend magazine. She did not appreciate the way he earned money as a candidate of "Vliegende Hollanders" (Flying Dutchmen). Van de Ven withdrew from SBS 6 ski jumping competition just before its broadcast. Patty wrote: "Mari did not really train. Rumour has it that he asked for payment in advance whether he would jump or not. Apparently he knew from the start he would not compete and thought: "I'm going to take my money!". Miss Brard wondered why he came to Hinterzarten, Germany where the TV program was taped.

Patty "torn between two lovers"

Patty and the cast of "Echte Meisjes op de Prairie"

On February 21st, RTL 5 held a press conference in Loosdrecht, NL to present its latest reality show "Echte Meisjes op de Prairie". The taping of the TV program (hosted by Patty Brard) took place last October in Utah where five girls and five gay men had to show their cow boy skills. "The candidates are a bunch of hysterical people. They always complained: too cold, headache after drinking all night....", the diva said in an interview posted on NU.nl. Patty had to act like a "mean stepmother or an angry sister" for the purposes of "Echte Meisjes". Moreover, the former Luv' singer explained to RTL Boulevard that she felt "torn between two lovers". The larger than life TV personality is currently busy working with two channels: RTL 5 and SBS 6. "It's really hard for me. I'm a bit old fashioned when it comes to relationships. I was used to develop projects with only one network," she said.

"Vliegende Hollanders" in a tough ratings war

The ski jumping competition "Vliegende Hollanders" premiered yesterday on SBS 6 and featured Patty Brard as a member of the jury. Nicolas Liébart was the first celebrity to be eliminated. John de Wolf, Kelly van der Veer, Mari van de Ven and Sita Vermeulen previously pulled out of the contest. Despite its good TV ratings (1.095.000 viewers/market share: 15.4%), the program lost the "prime-time war" against TROS/Nederland 1 series "Flikken Maastricht" (1.739.000 viewers/market share: 23.9%) and RTL 4 show "Everybody Dance Now" (1.395.000 viewers/market share: 19.5%). Patty wrote on Facebook: "PFFFFFFFFFF, fortunately above one million viewers. I expected the figures between EDN and VH to be different but we don't have to complain!".

José is moving to Hilversum

José Hoebee is going to leave her modest wooden house in Muiderberg, NL and will soon move to Hilversum (a key center for Dutch radio and television broadcasting). Last autumn, the artist explained to the media that her accommodation was too depressing (see news posted on November 4th 2012). The former Luv' singer told Showbis.net: "I'm busy packing boxes because my son and I are going to move to Hilversum. A good friend of mine could arrange an apartment for me. I'm so happy. I was totally depressed in my little house in the forest. I live so far from everybody and because I don't have a car every visit looked like a distant journey. I'm so lucky to find a flat in Hilversum. My friend, who arranged everything, lives on the floor below me and it's going to be pleasant. It's temporary because later I would like to live in a bigger house. But soon I will have company and the apartment is near the Media Park. Who knows what is going to happen?".

Marga, Gemma & Debbie in "Story" Magazine

Last week's issue of Story magazine featured an article about Marga Scheide, Gemma van Eck and Debbie Jenner as well as a nice photo session. The ladies compared their experience as former members of girl groups. In 1980, they were supposed to be rivals. Marga was the beautiful blonde girl of "Luv'". Gemma was the lead singer of "Babe". Debbie fronted "Doris D. & The Pins".

Find below scans of Story (courtesy of Martin Vink) - click on the images to enlarge them:

Marga said about her glory years: "We could not predict the success of Luv'. It was the ultimate girl's dream. The saddest thing is that we didn't have any privacy. It was almost impossible to have a stable relationship". She added: "I enjoyed every day from the beginning of Luv' in 1976. However, I don't miss the show business".

As for Gemma, she is an experienced artist. She was part of Babe from 1979 to 1982 and then she went solo. This talented vocalist appeared in several musicals and in 2007 she was a judge on SBS6's talent show "So You Wanna Be A Popstar".

Debbie Jenner is British. Her career is impressive: singer of Doris D. & The Pins (1980-1985), a renowned promoter of aerobics in Holland, Dance captain and company manager of the Dutch version of the musical "Cats", assistant of Michael King (who choreographed "A Tribute to the Blues Brothers"), run a fitness center and later The Pilates Company...

Patty would like to host "All You Need Is Love"

Patty Brard would like to host "All You Need Is Love". That's what the TV personality wrote in her column published in Weekend magazine. If Robert ten Brink stopped presenting the RTL 4 show, she would like to replace him. Miss Brard is fond of the program. "It's well prepared. All You Need is not only a format which is appropriate for Christmas. It is well planned and is successful every Saturday," she explained. Patty also appreciates the presentation. "I don't know what happened to him but Robert is the shining example of a man who has become more attractive over the years. The way he comprehends a story or how he kisses a sad grandma, the joy he is radiating, it's pure eye candy".
