Interview with Luv' on Swiss radio (1993)

Luv' fan Jennifer Bostelaar has found special footage uploaded on YouTube: a two-part interview in German with José, Marga and Patty (originally broadcast on the Swiss radio station SR DRS in November 1993 as part of their "Luv' Gold" promo tour). The ladies discussed the group's formation, their glory years, the recipe for success, their reunion, their knowledge of Switzerland (chocolate, watches, Heidi, cheese, cleanness..). The trio scored three big hits in William Tell's country: You're the Greatest Lover (#1 in 1978), Trojan Horse (#2 in 1978) and Casanova (#4 in 1979). They performed their songs on popular TV shows like "Musik & Gäste". Patty's affair with Swiss bandleader Pepe Lienhard caused a sensation in the Helvetian tabloid press.

Soon: the Dutch version of "Snog Marry Avoid?" with Patty Brard on RTL 5

On January 25th, I posted an article about Patty Brard's latest TV project: the Dutch version of "Snog Marry Avoid?". Currently the original UK version of the reality program airs daily as "Lust, Liefde of Laten Lopen" on RTL 5 and is hosted by former Precious and Atomic Kitten singer Jenny Frost. But RTL Nederland is adapting its own version and has chosen "Make-Under" as a working title. Patty will be in charge of the presentation. 

Passers-by in the street are asked whether they would snog, marry or avoid 'fakery obsessed' or 'slap addict' participants. Then the candidates are changed into natural beauties without makeup or fake tan.

Recently De Telegraaf posted a video of Patty Brard's latest fan club meeting on its website. Click here to watch it. The diva was grateful to her Facebook fans. Faithful admirers like Kelly (who has "P.B" initials tattooed on her leg), Anton (who came all the way from Spain) and Pauline (who organised the meet'n greet evening) were interviewed. 

"Without fans you're nothing. Anytime there's a new program on TV or a record release, it's shared on Facebook, Hyves or Twitter. It's a fabulous promotion machine. So that's why I devote time to my public once a year," La Brard said.

Patty on "Wie is de reisleider?"

On January 29th, the fourth episode of RTL 5 program "Wie is de reisleider?" attracted 237.000 viewers (market share: 3.2%) and featured the entrance of Patty Brard in the tour guide contest. The diva was in charge of a group of tourists in India. When the holidaymakers knew who had to plan their stay, they had mixed feelings. Some considered Patty's presence as "hell" and others were delighted. 

In a recent interview published in the celebrity gossip magazine "Party", the former Luv' singer told that she was asked to choose between two destinations: Mexico or India. "Well, it wasn't hard for me. I chose India, of course. A country full of culture with many aspects to discover. Poverty, wealth, gold and glitter. You never know what to expect," Patty said.

Patty Brard : Meet 'n greet evening with fans

Yesterday, Patty Brard's fan club meeting took place at the bowling center "Knijn" in Amsterdam. This event was a good opportunity for the TV personality to meet her most loyal Facebook admirers. Some of my "Twitter" contacts were present: Esmee van der Werf, Pauline van Delden and Kelly Vermicelli. This pleasant evening coincided with the 30th anniversary of Pat's TV career.

Patty to host "Make Under"

Patty Brard will host "Make Under", the Dutch version of British reality show "Snog Marry Avoid?" on RTL 5. The program focuses mainly on transforming 'fakery obsessed' or 'slap addicts' into natural beauties by stripping them of their skimpy clothes and layers of make-up and giving them a make-under instead of a make-over.

Patty and the Reality Queens in the Wild West

Patty Brard's latest TV project called "Echte Meisjes op de Prairie" will debut on March 5th on RTL 5. The program was taped in Utah last October. Patty took ten former candidates from reality shows (five girls and five gay men) to the Wild West. The contestant with the best cow boy skills won €40.000. The viewers will know the result at the end of the eighth episode.

Patty Brard fears Bridget Maasland

Patty Brard appears occasionnally on "Shownieuws" again not as a host like in the past but as a "showbiz expert". Yesterday, she was supposed to be on SBS 6 entertainment news program with Bridget Maasland. De Telegraaf posted on its website an article on Patty's so-called fear for Bridget as the ladies don't know each other well. The diva wondered if they could click. Finally, Maasland was not present and the program was hosted by Beau van Erven Dorens instead. La Brard is expected to appear four times next month on Shownieuws. She might collaborate with Bridget but it is not sure yet.

1983 - 2013: 30 years of Patty Brard on the small screen

Patty Brard will always be remembered as a member of the now-defunct LUV' trio but the public also knows her as a fabulous TV personality. Thirty years ago exactly, on January 25th 1983, the diva made her TV debut as a co-host of the Candid Camera-like show "Bananasplit" with Ralf Inbar on TROS/Nederland 1. The program was a huge success in Holland and Belgium and some episodes peaked at seven million viewers!!!

In 1985, Patty presented with Pippo Baudo the "Sanremo Music Festival" which attracted 20 million viewers on RAI Uno in Italy. 

In 1986 and 1987, she briefly hosted "Bingo", a music chart program on BRT in Belgium.                                                

September 1989 saw her comeback on television with the hidden camera show "Gaan met die banaan" on the first commercial channel created in Holland: "RTL Veronique" (currently RTL 4).

Patty's funny performance on SBS 6 figure skating competition "Sterren Dansen Op Het Ijs" in January 2007 was a heavily covered media event and relaunched her TV career.

She was a regular guest on the first season, co-hosted the second season with Tooske Ragas and the third edition with Beau van Erven Dorens. She was also part of a jury on the 2010 edition.

In April 2011, Sanoma and Talpa took over SBS Nederland. One month later, Patty's deal was not extended. In September and October 2001, the "enfant terrible of Dutch showbiz" appeared on RTL 4 reality show "Diva's draaien door" with Patricia Paay and Tatjana Simic.

La Brard's splash on SBS 6 celebrity diving competition "Sterren Springen" caused a sensation in late August 2012 and put her in the limelight again.

Currently, the larger than life entertainer can be seen on "Wie is de reisleider" on RTL 5 and occasionally again on "Shownieuws" as a "showbiz expert". Her next project called "Echte Meisjes op de Prairie" will air in March. It will feature female characters and gay candidates from several acclaimed reality shows who will be put to the test on the American prairie.

Patty knows how to re-invent herself and can be proud of the longevity of her career.

The third episode of "Wie is de reisleider?" (featuring Patty Brard) drew 260.000 viewers (market share: 3.1%) yesterday on RTL 5.

Patty temporarily back on Shownieuws

Patty Brard appeared yesterday on Shownieuws. She was invited on SBS 6 entertainment news program as an "expert" to talk about a specific issue: "TV formats which feature Dutch celebrities as candidates (in particular a forthcoming ski jumping competition called "De Vliegende Hollander – Sterren Springen Schans"). The diva knows this subject very well because of her presence on "Sterren Dansen Op Het Ijs" and "Sterren Springen Op Zaterdag". She also discussed other showbiz news of the day. It is not known yet if Patty comes back regularly on Shownieuws as a "specialist". In the past, the former Luv' singer co-hosted the program with Viktor Brand. But in May 2011 her deal with SBS was not extended and she was dismissed.

The second episode of RTL 5 program "Wie is de reisleider?" (featuring Patty Brard as a tour guide) only attracted 251.000 viewers (market share: 3.4%) on January 15th.

José's uncertain future

After her elimination from SBS 6 figure skating competition, José Hoebee had got herself into a hole. Speaking in today's edition of De Telegraaf, the former Luv' singer said that she was considering a career on television. "Secretly, when I saw Gerard Joling hosting the TV program, I said to myself: "why not me?" But I prefer to do it in the form of a talk show. A good friend of mine is in touch with MAX  (a channel whose target audience are viewers aged 50 to 70) and she will tell me if they have something for me," José said.

"Thanks to my participation in "Sterren dansen op het ijs", I enjoyed company. I really need it after the death of my husband Will last summer. Then Luv' disbanded. So my elimination got me into trouble again," she added.

Now the songstress lives on welfare. She would like to make a comeback as a solo artist but it is far from being easy. She has not performed on stage for a long time. For the moment she works as a volunteer twice a week at the Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum.

Yesterday, Patty Brard and Wardrobe stylist Fred van Leer were guests on "Life 4 You". The RTL 4 high-rated talk show (hosted by Irene Moors and Carlo Boszhard) pulled in an average of 1.241.000 viewers (market share: 22.6%). The diva and her new colleague promoted their new TV program "Wie is de reisleider?" (see news posted on January 6th 2013). Miss Brard also discussed her recent column on Sylvie van der Vaart published in Weekend Magazine. The former Luv' singer did not understand the nonchalant behaviour of Sylvie who separated from her her husband, Football star Rafael van der Vaart after she became the victim of domestic abuse. Moreover, Patty said that she was approached by SBS 6 for a celebrity ski jumping competition but she refused it (see news posted on January 9th 2013). Finally, the busy entertainer talked about her other TV project: RTL 5 forthcoming reality show called "Echte Meisjes op de Prairie" (see news posted on December 6th 2012).

Luv's Greatest Lover on French TV (1979)

It's a dream come true! A rare video of Luv' on French TV has recently been posted on YouTube. It has also been broadcast by 192 TV. The girls performed "You're the Greatest Lover" (with their "Trojan Horse" outfits in a fairy-tale set) on "Des Magiciens", a French show which originally aired on January 1st 1979. The "Greatest Lover" was entitled "Sing, sing me a chanson" in my country. Formidable, non??!!!

Yesterday, RTL 5 aired "Wie is de reisleider?" (featuring Patty Brard and five other Dutch celebrities). The reality program only attracted 317.000 people (market share: 4.7%).

Patty: Happy days are here again

Patty Brard's splash on Sterren Springen has boosted her career on television like her funny performance on SBS 6 figure skating show in 2007. Currently, the diva has a hectic schedule again. She appears on RTL 5 program "Wie is de reisleider?" and the viewers will see her in March on the reality series "Echte Meisjes op de Prairie". Recently La Brard has been approached to take part in a ski jumping competition but she declined the offer. She told the Dutch newspaper Sp!ts that she was busy to develop new formats but she refused to reveal the details. "The only think I can say is that this week I'm going to play the leading role in a pilot filmed by a young director. Indeed, I want to act," Patty said.
