Two days ago, Priscilla Nasi celebrated her 38th birthday. She was born on July 23rd, 1983 in Los Angeles to Italian record executive Carlo Nasi and former Luv' singer Patty Brard.
Patty posted on Instagram and Facebook a beautiful and old picture of herself with her daughter. The diva wrote: "You once wrote me this letter. It was your rap version of Smile by Charlie Chaplin. At the time we had problems. “Smile Though the skies are grey…Smile though the pain won't go away….Stand tall And face life, I know it's hurting you…. Hold your head up high…you’ll always pull through…..SMILE! You have always been a wise rascal and you still are! 38 years old today! You're my girl and no one will ever interfere! And we will always laugh… in good and bad times! I love you @priscillanasi Happy Birthday! Let's make it an unforgettable year! #love #motherdaughter #happybirthday #happytogether #forever".
On July 18th, Marga Scheide, her partner Michiel Gunning, her sister Hannie and their friends (Silvia Moos, gossip columnist Jan Uriot and Dennis van Zwol) attended the premiere of the "Hans Klok & Friends" show at the Griftpark in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

* José Hoebee in De Telegraaf: "Bonnie, please call me!"
The July 22nd edition of De Telegraaf featured an article written by Jan Uriot about José Hoebee in its "Privé" (entertainment news) section.
Recently, a biography about Bonnie St. Claire came out. This publication generated publicity in the Netherlands. The book mentions Bonnie's collaboration with José in the 1980s. The ladies formed a duo to sing Dutch cover versions of ABBA songs produced by José's husband, record producer Will Hoebee. They scored two Dutch Top 40 hits: Cassandra (1984) and Zoals Vrienden Doen (The Way Old Friends Do - 1985). Shortly afterwards, a duet LP entitled "Herinnering" (including the two above-mentioned singles) was released. Last Autumn, the album was reissued on CD/DVD after a crowdfunding campaign. Read the article posted on November 20th, 2020: All About LUV' (past, present, future and more): Bonnie & José's Herinnering (2020 edition): officially out today and media coverage!!! (luvgirlgroup.blogspot.com)
José told De Telegraaf that Bonnie had been ignoring her for years although she appeared in her biography. "I don't know what I did wrong. I think Bonnie is not that angry at me. Otherwise, she would not have written about me. My late husband Will Hoebee and I are frequently mentioned. I appreciate it. I don't have her new phone number. That's why sometimes I send messages to her manager. Recently I wrote to him: "Bonnie looks fantastic on the cover of her book". The manager answered: "I'm going to forward your message to Bonnie". But I never got an answer from her whereas my phone number is still the same. Bonnie can call me but she doesn't do it. In my opinion, her husband Anne-Jan forbids her from contacting me. Maybe it's because I used to say that she should drink less. I understand that she's leaving the past behind. We used to have fun back in the day. Now that I'm ill, I need her. It would be so nice if we could talk and laugh again. We laughed a lot in the past," José explained.
As for Bonnie who is busy promoting her book, she told De Telegraaf/Privé she was not opposed to reconciliation. "José has moved often. She was here and another time she was there. She even lived in Belgium. We were less in contact. But I still plan to invite her home. Now I have a hectic schedule. I hope she's doing fine. Sooner or later I'll be in touch with her," Bonnie said.

Two years ago, Patty Brard and Jan Versteegh worked on SB6's infotainment program "6 Inside" which flopped. Less than six months after its debut, the final episode of the TV show was broadcast on June 28th, 2019 due to its weak viewing figures.
On this occasion, the former Luv' singer reacted to this alleged argument. "Jan and I click. I think it's crazy that people say it. I wonder where the rumours come from. Maybe people tried to find a reason for 6 Inside's failure. We had nothing to do with this flop. It was due to wrong programming. We did our best. Some may think we couldn't stand each other. It's not true. Jan is a really nice guy," the diva said.
On July 15th, Dutch investigative journalist and crime reporter Peter R. de Vries died in hospital, nine days after being shot in the head from close range in Amsterdam’s Lange Leidsedwarssstraat, just after leaving the RTL Boulevard television studio.
He was one of the most prominent journalists in the Netherlands, known for his work on high-profile crimes such as the kidnapping of Freddy Heineken in the 1980s and the disappearance of American tourist Natalee Holloway in Aruba in 2005.
“It is almost impossible to comprehend. My thoughts are with his family, his relatives, friends, colleagues, all those close to him and I wish them a lot of strength in this unimaginably difficult moment,” Prime Minister Mark Rutte said in a statement.
The sentiment was echoed around Europe. “Deeply saddened by the news of Peter R. de Vries’ passing. I want to express my condolences to his family and loved ones,” EU Commission president Ursula von der Leyen told.
More recently De Vries had agreed to represent Nabil B., a key witness in a major gangland trial known as the Marengo case. Many commentators said his assassination in broad daylight was similar to other killings that prosecutors say were ordered by the chief suspect in the case, Ridouan Taghi.
Two men were arrested within an hour of the shooting after being stopped in a car on the A4 motorway. Polish national Kamil E., who recently moved to Gelderland, and Rotterdammer Delano G., who is suspected of being the gunman, appeared in court on Friday. G’s family recently told De Telegraaf that he had become involved with the so-called ‘Mocro’ drug gangs in Nieuwegein, Vianen and Tiel. He is said to be a nephew of Joey W., or Jaouad, another alleged Taghi gang member who is serving 13 years in jail for being a member of a ‘hit squad’. Taghi is one of 17 people currently standing trial in Amsterdam accused of ordering six murders and another seven attempted killings between 2015 and 2017. He is also suspected of ordering the assassination of Amsterdam lawyer Derk Wiersum on his doorstep in September 2019. Wiersum was acting for Nabil B. in the Marengo case, though his murder is not part of the trial. Two men appeared in court earlier this week accused of carrying out the killing. On July 15th, justice minister Ferd Grapperhaus said he had ordered an inquiry into the security arrangements around De Vries, who said two years ago he was on Taghi’s ‘hit list’. De Vries had refused an offer of personal protection after Wiersum’s death, saying it would make his job impossible as he depended on his contacts in the underworld for information. Taghi’s lawyer, Inez Weski, has denied that the cases are connected and attacked the media coverage of the shooting of De Vries, insisting there was no evidence her client was involved.
Many Dutch unknowns and celebrities reacted to the passing of the notorious journalist.
Here's the message posted on the Official Luv' Fan Page on Facebook:
Former Luv' singers Patty Brard and Carina Lemoine also expressed their sadness on social media:
The public were invited to pay their respects at a farewell service for Peter R. de Vries on July 21st in Amsterdam.
The ceremony was held on the wish of the family, partner and loved ones of Peter R. de Vries, who wanted to give everyone the opportunity to pay their final respects and say goodbye to Peter. The farewell was held at the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam, which opened its doors especially for this occasion. A public farewell took place on July 21st, followed by a private, invitation-only service on July 22nd for Peter’s family, loved ones and those who knew him personally (including media personalities John de Mol, Linda de Mol, Beau van Erven Dorens and Humberto Tan).
At the public service, visitors were each given a moment to say a personal goodbye to Peter. Instead of bringing flowers, the family asked for donations to be made to De Gouden Tip (The Golden Tip) foundation. Peter was founder and Chairman of De Gouden Tip, which assists in cold cases and supports victims of crime – a cause close to his heart. So far, more than €1.3 million have been donated to the foundation. An online condolence book for Peter has additionally been signed more than 32,000 times.

In the June 30th episode of the entertainment news show RoddelPraat on YouTube, Dutch media personality Jan Roos discussed rumours about Patty Brard and Antoine van de Vijver's separation. The following week, the lovebirds even graced the cover of Story magazine with a sensationalist headline that said: "Rumours of separation: who wants to destroy Patty Brard's marriage?". Jan Roos was interviewed by Story. "Patty or her husband didn't tell me anything. I've heard the story about their separation from a reliable person from Patty's entourage," he said.

La Brard recently reacted to this gossip. "This is provocation from Jan. But I can tell you that Antoine and I are not getting a divorce. That's bullshit. A divorce is never going to happen. No, I'm not going to take any action against Jan. I let it go," the diva told Story.
On July 17th, in response to the rumours, the former Luv' singer posted on social media a beautiful picture of herself with Antoine, her daughter Priscilla and her two dogs Bibi and Bobbie in Ibiza.

* Chimène van Oosterhout graced the cover of last week's issue of Vrouw (a women's magazine, supplement to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf). She discussed her cancer, her documentary and other subjects.

When asked what her future plans were, the ex-Luv' singer answered: "I think now it's time for plan C. I've always lived according to the desires of other people. I appreciated my work on television because I was a sought-after TV host. As for Luv', I was asked to join the group. I earned a good living but now I'm not interested in a musical solo career. All these good opportunities came to me. I've never done anything with my whole soul. 2020 was the year of introspection due to the coronavirus. I've always been a free spirit. If I had the chance to be on TV again, I would host a psychology program. My documentary is a new departure. I've been busy lately with a book about narcissism and its consequences on women. I've also been the victim of narcissist people".

* On July 14th, Chimène van Oosterhout was interviewed by Dennis Kuzee and Peter Kroon for De Motor Podcast about motorcycling. She has always been a huge fan of motorbikes. In the early 2000s, the multitalented TV personality hosted Motor TV, a motorbike program on Veronica.

40th anniversary of "Tingalingaling" and Luv's farewell performance on "Nederland Muziekland"
Photo edited by Marco Rens
40 years ago exactly, on July 22nd, 1981, the Luv' ladies gave a farewell performance on Veronica's TV show "Nederland Muziekland". They sang "Tingalingaling" which came out as a single. Let's celebrate the 40th anniversary of this record.
After the group's demise, the ladies kept a low profile except for Pattywho scored the hit single "Hold on Love" on the charts in early 1981 (#19 on the Dutch Top 40 and #14 on the Nationale Hitparade in the Netherlands, #4 on the BRT Top 30 in Belgium and #12 on the South African Charts).
The wedding plans of two former Luv' singers (José van de Wijdeven and Patty Brard) were announced in the press. The March 31st, 1981 edition of De Telegraaf featured an article about José and her fiancé, record producer Will Hoebee. The lovebirds revealed the good news on March 29th, 1981 during the birthday party of José and Piet Souer (who co-wrote Luv's repertoire with Hans van Hemert). American actor and singer David Soul (world-famous for his role in the television series Starsky & Hutch) was present at this party due to the fact that at the time he was recording an album with Will.
The May 14th, 1981 edition of De Telegraaf included a short article about Italian record executive Carlo Nasi who proposed marriage to Patty Brard. The proposal took place at Bart van der Laar's villa in Portugal. Patty wanted Van der Laar to be a witness at her wedding. Patty and Carlo got married two years later. Van der Laar did not attend their ceremony as he was murdered in November 1981.
Shortly after her birthday, José underwent an operation on her nose. As a former photo model, Marga wanted to work in the fashion industry again.
Hitkrant - April 16th, 1981
As for Ria Thielsch, Flemish magazine Joepie told that she was approached by record producer Julien van Wordragen to join the Belgian girl group Bordeaux Rouge. Van Wordragen put the record straight when he said that there was a misunderstanding about his intentions with Ria. Nothing concrete was decided. In the end, Ria was never part of another group and never put out a solo record.
Meanwhile, Luv'creator, Hans van Hemert wrote and produced a single entitled "Tick-a-thumps my heart" for the female pop trio "Babe". The song reached the Top 20 in the Netherlands and Belgium in the summer of 1981. Marga and José Hoebee secretly provided vocals on this track. Moreover, Marga was also in charge of Babe's styling.

José also recorded background vocals for David Soul's LP "The Best Days Of My Life" (produced by the man who would become her husband in October 1981: Will Hoebee). A party was organized after the recording of David Soul's album.
On June 18th, 1981, Marga, José and Ria caused a sensation when they took part in the Hitkrant's zomerspelen (a summer multi-sport event with celebrities which was sponsored by teen magazine Hitkrant) at the Efteling theme park. On that occasion, a handprint ceremony with the girls was organized for the official launch of the Efteling's latest attraction: the "Python" roller coaster.

The June 26th, 1981 edition of De Telegraaf featured a funny article about José with Vanessa, Ciska Peters and Dutch Grand Prix motorcycle road racer "Jumping" Jack Middelburg.
In the meantime, TROS DJ Hugo van Gelderen started to play Luv's track "Tingalingaling" often on the radio. This uptempo post-disco and synthpop song was taken from the group's last studio album "Forever Yours". It was so popular among the listeners and the fans that CNR/Carrere Records decided to release it as a single.
On July 14th, 1981, Marga, José and Ria took part in a photo shoot in the garden of the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel.
To the public's great surprise, Luv'made a farewell performance on July 22nd 1981, on Veronica's TV show "Nederland Muziekland".
The program was taped in Spakenburg, Netherlands. The ladies lip-synced "Tingalingaling". Marga was at that time reluctant to plan a comeback and José intended to launch her solo career. However,Willem-Jan van de Wetering (general manager of Luv's record company) convinced them to appear on this unique show.

As Tingelingeling came out, Hitkrant magazine published in August 1981 a three-part story of the girl group entitled "De waarheid over Luv'" (the truth about Luv').
On August 13th, 2021, De Telegraaf published a surprising article entitled "Will Patty be back in Luv'?". One year after Miss Brard's departure, Willem-Jan van de Wetering (of Carrere Records) told the sensationalist newspaper that the original Luv' trio might be back for a final TV appearance with Ria. "It will happen as part of the promotion of Luv's new LP "Goodbye Luv'" which will be released in September," Van de Wetering said. This TV project never materialized.
Moreover, the trio was supposed to sing at a UNICEF gala in Greece (broadcast on Eurovision) but their participation in this show was cancelled.

At the end of the summer of 1981, the compilation "Goodbye Luv" (including the repertoire from 1979 to 1981) came out and marked the end of a short and intense success story.
No one expected that the members of Luv' would reunite several times later.....
Release
Tingalingaling was released in various editions - all depending on which countries the release took place (Carrere in Europe, WEA in Japan and MAG in Peru).
A release party for Goodbye Luv' was held in Hilversum. British pop-rock singer Keith Marshall gave Marga and José the first copy of their latest LP.

Because it was not actively promoted by Luv' in the media, "Tingalingaling" became a moderate hit in the Netherlands. It peaked at #29 on the Dutch Top 40 and #15 on the Nationale Hitparade in Holland in August 1981.
