Crime reporter Peter R. de Vries fighting for life after Amsterdam shooting / Reactions of former Luv' singers

On July 6th, Dutch investigative journalist and crime reporter Peter R. de Vries was shot after leaving the television studio of RTL Boulevard in Amsterdam where he had appeared as a guest. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition. This incident really shocked the Netherlands and was front-page news there. 

King Willem-Alexander interrupted a state visit to Germany to express his ‘deep shock" at the attack on De Vries. Later the Royal Family issued an official statement underlining the King’s and Queen Maxima’s consternation.

Many Dutch people expressed their sadness on social media. At the spot where De Vries was shot multiple times, including in the head, now lay flowers, handwritten messages and candles.

The shockwaves from the attack reverberated through Europe, with European Parliament President David Sassoli describing it as an attack on the ‘backbone of democracy’.

Two former Luv' ladies also reacted to this sad news.

Due to this terrible incident, the diva forgot the problems she had with Peter R. de Vries. Tensions between the two celebrities appeared in late 2015 during the broadcast of SBS6's paranormal talent show MindMasters Live.

Patty discussed Peter R. de Vries' shooting on SBS6's entertainment news program Showieuws (which drew 267.000 viewers (market share: 5%) on July 7th). "I was at Gordon's birthday party in Blaricum yesterday evening. John van den Heuvel was present. As you know, we had to wear Arabian costumes. Suddenly, security guards escorted John out of the room. In retrospect, I think it has got to do with what happened to Peter. I also noticed that two people working on RTL Boulevard paced nervously back and forth across the room talking on their cell phones," she told. The SBS6 star was also shocked by people posting images of John lying on the ground on social media.

Here's what Chimène van Oosterhout wrote on Facebook: "What is happening in the world and in our tolerant Netherlands? Norms fade, values ​​disappear. This can not be true…. but…. It is true. Of course, there are risks associated with crime journalism…. However, if something horrific happens to Peter R. the way it happened last night, then all my foundations shatter once again. And they are not so strong in this terrible time. I can no longer see the forest through the trees and the ground through the grass. We are all tiny, a very small part of this very big bad world.
