Benelux and German-speaking countries were very important for Luv' during their heyday (1978-1981). Their records were also distributed in other territories. In recent years, I have realized that the girls had also hits in Finland, Denmark, France, Spain, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mexico, Argentina, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Recently, I've been in touch with Norwegian historian Geir Åsen. Thanks to him, I have found out that Luv' were also present in Norway's media. I have used the website of the Nasjonalbiblioteket (National Library of Norway) for my research.
Norway: a tiny and foreign-friendly market
Norway is a small music market. In 1979, this Scandinavian country had 4 million inhabitants.
Since 1958, VG-lista has been the official Norwegian record chart presented weekly in the newspaper VG. In 1979, it was only a Top 10 chart based on the sales in 50 record shops in Norway. So it was difficult to find information about records that didn't reach the VG-lista.
Despite its smallness, the Norwegian music market was already foreign-friendly. At the time, international acts like ABBA, Boney M., Baccara, Village People or Bee Gees were very successful there.
To this day, I could not find any trace of Luv' records on the VG-lista. Does it mean that the trio was ignored in the Land of Fjords? Actually not, even if the girls never came to Norway to perform on stage and television.
Luv's presence in Norwegian media
Trojan Horse in the hit parades
On March 26th, 1979, Trojan Horse reached #15 on the Hortens-Toppen, a hit parade published in the Gjengangeren newspaper.
The June 2nd, 1979 edition of Halden Arbeiderblad published a hit parade of May including Trojan Horse peaking at #6.
With Luv': review
On May 21st, 1979, the Fremover newspaper featured a review of the group's debut album "With Luv'" (which was initially released in August 1978 in the Netherlands). This edition of Luv's LP included Trojan Horse that replaced Don Juanito De Carnaval.
On November 28th, 1979, Drammens Tidende og Buskeruds Blad published a short article about Luv'.

Dozens of articles announcing this special were published in the Norwegian press. Luv' were described as "singers who were well on their way to achieving the international reputation of Baccara and Boney M.". To prove their popularity on the European marketplace, Norwegian papers mentioned their numerous TV appearances in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain.

It was a wonderful great article, and so nicely done by you! Pulling Norway forward with them is great! This will delight many Norwegians fans and open their eyes to the incredible music. Was very pleased to see all the clippings you found in the National Library. This is fun, and very commendable. Best greetings from us all in Norway!
