Luv's plans for the future: a biopic and new remixes!

Patty Brard, Marga Scheide and José Hoebee (Luv's original trio) at the height of their international career in 1979

The latest issue of Dutch celebrity gossip magazine "Privé" features an article about Luv' combined with an interview with Marga Scheide. The blonde singer discussed a Luv' biopic project developed by Frederik Nelck, a film and television scriptwriter, script doctor, format creator, item director and songwriter. A couple of years ago, Nelck collaborated with Hans van Hemert to launch the girl group named Adalyn. Click here, here and here to read articles about Adalyn

"TV scriptwriter and film-maker Frederik Nelck visited me to explain his plan. He showed me a nice promo video, and it looked very professional. I'm very enthusiastic about it. Frederik takes it very seriously and has a very clear storyboard. He's working on a script, and when it's finished, the casting will start. Frederik is known to us as he launched the girl group Adalyn, a younger version of Luv'," Marga told.

When asked if she was not afraid of Patty Brard, who might veto this project, Marga answered: "No, I'm not afraid of anyone. Frederik checked all the options legally. Actresses are allowed to portray us in a film. We did a lot of things, not only in the Netherlands but also abroad. You can say many things about Luv', but we have often hit the headlines for more than four decades. It can give Frederik lots of inspiration".

Marga also mentioned her collaboration with Piv Huvluv: "In October, I'll be on stage in Belgium. I'll be performing as a guest artist during the theatre tour of Flemish comedian Piv Huvluv. Last year, I performed only once as part of his tour through Flanders, but the next shows had to be cancelled due to coronavirus. In a couple of months, we'll be starting again. However, I don't intend to sing with Luv' again. I decided to stop the group when José Hoebee became ill. Without her, there is no Luv'".

Moreover, Privé magazine provided an overview of Luv's ups and downs during their career: Patty Brard's departure, line-up changes (Ria Thielsch and Chimène van Oosterhout's recruitment), Patty's marriages with Ron Brandsteder and Carlo Nasi, the launch of a limited company inspired by ABBA to control every aspect of the group's career, José Hoebee's bankruptcy after the passing of her husband Will, Marga and Patty's wealth (both ladies have houses on Ibiza) and many other funny anecdotes (including the one when the ladies flew first class. All of a sudden, a baby came under the curtain and was crawling. Marga told him with disgust: "Eew! An economy baby!").

In addition to the biopic, new remixes of Luv' songs will soon come out. Music professional Casper Janssen mentioned this other project to Privé. "Several Luv' allies (including Peter Boonstra, who wrote a Luv' biography years ago) are working on releasing new remixes of Luv' hits. Hans van Hemert already listened to the demos and was satisfied. We, the team working on the CD, support Peter Boonstra. Due to copyright issues related to photos, Peter was obliged to stop the sale of his book," Casper said.

On July 30th, the "Privé" section (entertainment news) of Holland's most-read newspaper De Telegraaf included another article about Luv's biopic project. Patty Brard (who had not been on good terms with her former Luv' colleagues for many years) reacted to the news about the film. "Let them do it," the diva said laconically.

The publication of the articles in Privé and De Telegraaf caused a chain reaction in the Dutch media. Websites (including Libelle.nl, Superguide.nl, MSN.nl, and Utopianieuws.nl) reported the news. Luv' biopic was briefly mentioned on RTL 4's infotainment program RTL Boulevard (which drew 746.000 viewers (market share: 24.7%) on July 30th. This subject was discussed more in detail by gossip columnist and Weekend editor-in-chief Bart Ettekoven on the same evening on SBS6's entertainment news program Shownieuws (which only attracted 362.000 viewers (market share: 13.4%). La Brard often appears on Shownieuws as a showbiz expert, but she was not present due to her holidays in Ibiza. "Film-maker Frederik Nelck is preparing a movie about Luv', the famous girl group of the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. He is a big fan. Several years ago, he launched a girl group inspired by Luv', but it was a flop. He visited Marga Scheide, who was honoured that he wanted to make this film. He showed her a trailer. The script is not finished. Luv' were a big group. It has all the ingredients of a good story: intrigues, break-ups, reunions, reconciliations, feuds, behind-the-scenes anecdotes, all the hits...They were very successful abroad. However, there are some copyright issues. Luv's father and songwriter, Hans van Hemert is happy about it. He says: "the more they play my music, the happier I am". I got in touch with Patty earlier today. She told me that she had nothing to say about it. It's a closed chapter. Anytime she talks about Luv' it causes a sensation. She wishes the ladies and the filmmaker good luck," Bart Ettekoven explained.

Actually, Patty didn't shut up and posted mean comments on her Instagram and Facebook stories. She dissed Luv' about the biopic and previous projects (Luv's 2019 reggaeton single (Has anybody heard of it?), Marga's guest performance with Piv HuvLuv...)

On August 1st, Privé editor-in-chief and showbiz expert Evert Santegoeds talked about the biopic and Patty's reactions on SBS6's Shownieuws (526.000 viewers/market share: 22.8%). "On Friday she (Patty) wished the film-maker good luck, but I think that now she is a bit angry on her mountain in Ibiza. What bothers her is that Marga and José are stuck in a Luv' time warp. Patty did a lot of other things, and she has a whole new career. They should have done that too," Santegoeds told. "Patty wonders who is going to portray her. She also says that a lot of projects have been announced with a lot of fanfare but not that much has been really released," Santegoeds added.
