The tell-all book entitled "Patty: de negen levens van Patty Brard" (written by Michel van Egmond and Antoinnette Scheulderman) has spent seven weeks on the Dutch bestseller lists.
The biography, which came out on March 25th (on Patty's 65th birthday), spent 3 weeks on the Top 5. Then it experienced a drop in sales (see news on April 23rd, 2020).
This week, the sensationalist publication has fallen to #27 on De Bestseller 60 (a list by the Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek ("Collective Promotion for the Dutch Book") representing Dutch bookstores and publishers).
Here are the current positions on the other bestseller lists: #6 on the AKO Boeken top 100, #26 on The Read Shop Top 50, #37 on Paagman.nl, #28 on the Bruna Top 100 and #13 on Amazon.nl (Bestsellers in E-books biografieën & memoires) and #62 on Amazon.nl (Bestsellers in Biografieën & memoires).
Excerpts from the book have been published in the press to keep it hot. Columnists and celebrities have discussed it as well. Recently, on Paul de Leeuw's TV-Quaran-Tine vlog, Dutch media personality and journalist Hanneke Groenteman said after reading the book that she didn't understand why La Brard's daughter, Priscilla Nasi refused to talk to her and should forgive her. During the writing of the biography, Priscilla (who had not been on speaking terms with Patty since 2009) was approached by the authors and didn't want to collaborate on the publication.
