French disco on AVRO's TopPop

Press clippings from Billboard magazine about French disco (published on August 12th, 1978)

Twenty years before the first wave of the "French Touch" (Daft Punk, Air, David Guetta, Bob Sinclar....), there was "French disco" in the late 1970s. French vocalists and musicians (Sheila & B. Devotion, Patrick Hernandez, Karen Cheryl, Gibson Brothers, Belle Epoque...) as well as foreign singers produced by French artists (Village People, Ritchie Family, Santa Esmeralda, Patrick Juvet...)  were part of this scene. Their popularity coincided with Luv's heyday.

To conquer the Dutch record charts, these artists had to perform on the influential music TV show AVRO's TopPop. (Holland's equivalent for "Top of the Pops", "Musikladen", "Disco", "Discoring" or "Aplauso")

Here are YouTube videos of their performances on the iconic TV program:
