It's the end of an era: Luv' and José Hoebee's groups on Clubs.nl shut down. Before the emergence of Facebook and Twitter, they were for many fans the first source of information. They were considered the first official fan clubs on internet. They included files (pictures, magazines scans, videos....), the latest news and most of all a forum (the fans could express themselves). I remember never-ending discussions among Luv's admirers. José even posted messages to inform her public.
I discovered Clubs.nl in July 2003 when I worked at the French Music Export Office in Berlin.
The "All You Need Is Luv" club was launched on September 9th, 2001 by Ger Valkenburg. Shortly afterwards, René Moonen joined in and ran it. In 2006, Peter Boonstra took over it. The Luv' ladies and Universal Music Netherlands (in charge of the trio's back catalogue) recognized the club.
On November 11th, 2003, Peter launched a José Hoebee's club. At that time, the singer relaunched her solo career and needed a platform to promote her activities. Then, Jos Theuns helped Peter to update this club.
The most positive aspect of these groups was the organization of meet 'n greet afternoons. I attended two of them in 2008 and 2009 during which I met José and other fans (including Martin Vink who later became a friend).
In recent years, the Luv' and José's clubs have become obsolete because of the huge success of social media.
