On September 8th, Patty Brard posted a picture of her iconic dive in 2012 on social media. She wrote: "I am still addressed: “that's that crazy lady from that diving board!” Do I mind? No, apparently, it was necessary to be where I am today! I am convinced that everything is a life lesson, and that is definitely one of them! Would I do it again? No, I learned from it! đđđ#whatdoesntkillyoumakesyoustronger @reinout_oerlemans @gerard_joling #starjumping #divingboard #sbs6 #return #dive #deep #hurt #laughter #joy #fun #goodcause @marliesroscamabbing".
Sterren Springen was a milestone in La Brard's TV career and even boosted it. One year before she participated in the competition, her contract with SBS6 was not extended, and Miss Brard had to leave the TV channel. Reinout Oerlemans (at the time CEO of the television production company Eyeworks) used the sequence of Patty's legendary dive as a publicity stunt to sell "Celebrity Splash" (the international name of the format) to 25 TV networks around the world.
Sterren Springen may not have been a pleasant experience for Patty. She was then fat and even suffered from physical after-effects. However, it facilitated her comeback on SBS6.
