Hans van Hemert: interview on "NH Gooi In Business"

Yesterday, as Luv's break-up was announced, the legendary record producer and songwriter Hans van Hemert (who launched the group in 1977) gave an interview on the radio show "NH Gooi In Business" on NH Gooi.

First, he explained his collaboration with a young female singer named Jenny. "She reminded me of a butterfly. She is a nice person who brings love. That's why I wanted to write her a special song," Hans told.

The Maestro also discussed the Eurovision Song Contest. He wrote three songs for the prestigious music competition: "Als het om de liefde gaat" by Sandra & Andres (#4 in 1972), "Ik Zie Een Ster"/"I See A Star" by Mouth & MacNeal (who finished third in 1974, as ABBA won it)  and "The Party's Over" by Sandra Reemer (#9 in 1976). When asked why he was not invited on talk shows on TV to give his opinion about the ESC and why he was not a judge on TV talent shows like The Voice, Hans answered that he didn't know.

He also mentioned his biggest commercial success: "How do you do" by Mouth & MacNeal which sold 6 million copies worldwide.

Of course, he talked about Luv': "Everybody talks about Luv' to me every day. I think that a musical including their songs should be written. I saw the girls perform last summer at Moeke Spijkstra in Blaricum (see news posted on August 23rd, 2019). Kids who were 20 or 25 years old knew all the lyrics and sang along. Everyone was happy! It was unbelievable!".

Hans was also disappointed in Marga Scheide: "She trademarked Luv's name. Imagine that a lot of energy is used to launch a Luv' musical. If it's a success, she can take advantage of it. I would not appreciate it".
