Patricia Paay refuses to join Luv'

Yesterday's edition of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf featured a strange article in its Privé section. According to Dutch gossip columnist Jan Uriot, the legendary pop singer Patricia Paay might join Luv' as a (temporary?) replacement for José Hoebee who had been ill for five months. Due to José's health issues, Luv' had been obliged to stop their live performances. But the group still receives bookings for shows through the Jan Vis agency but Luv' had to refuse them because of the interruption of their activities. 

That's why Marga Scheide contacted Patricia Paay. "I called Patricia Paay. She has not taken a decision yet but she was honored that we thought of her. We might replace José temporary but Patricia Paay might stay in Luv' for a longer period. We are still considering all the options," Marga told. 

The publication of the article in De Telegraaf (click here to read it) caused a sensation and other Dutch entertainment news websites (Story.nl, Ditjes & Datjes, Mediacourant.nl...) also covered this surprising news.

SBS6's entertainment news program "Shownieuws" mentioned this subject in its early evening edition (199.000 viewers/market share: 5.9%) and late evening edition (354.000 viewers/market share: 10.5%). 

Finally, yesterday evening, Patricia Paay's management informed that the diva was not interested in joining Luv'. This announcement was made on RTL 4's infotainment program RTL Boulevard (775.000 viewers/market share: 17.3%)

"Last week we were approached to know if Patricia wanted to replace José. This proposal doesn't suit her and she laughed about it. Patricia has many projects this year on her agenda and she cannot combine Luv's performances with her own schedule," Paay's management stated. 

The diva also discussed her refusal on the Dutch website Bekendeburen.nl. "There's no way I could be part of Luv'," she said.
