The latest issue of Story magazine features an article about Bonnie St. Claire and José Hoebee. In the 1980s, the ladies formed a duo to cover ABBA songs in Dutch. They even scored two Top 40 hits in the Netherlands: Cassandra (1984) and Zoals Vrienden Doen (1985). They were on very good terms and José was Bonnie's witness at her wedding with Anne-Jan Jongbloed in December 2004.
In recent years, there have been ups and downs in their relationship. José doesn't meet Bonnie at the moment. According to insiders, Anne-Jan seems to be the reason for the feud between the singers. "As far as I'm concerned, the friendship between us still exists. But due to several factors, our relationship has been in danger," José told Story.
"It's a touchy issue. Bonnie's entourage decided that she was the one who could contact me. I would like to call her but I am not allowed to do it. I am still waiting for a call," José added.
Recently, Bonnie had a party for her 70th birthday. José was surprised that her husband was not present. "This is her life and I respect that. I'm happy that she stopped drinking alcohol. She should have taken this decision earlier. I saw the pictures of her party and she looked perfect," José said.
Moreover, five days ago, an item about José's problems with Bonnie was broadcast on the entertainment news program "Sterrenstof" on Libelle TV (in association with Story). Click here to watch it.
