Recently, Dutch local broadcaster Omroep Brabant asked its audience to vote for the 900 best songs of all time. Luv's signature song "You're the Greatest Lover" (1978) reached Nr. 840 on the Top 900.
On August 11th, Luv's long-time fan René Moonen spent a wonderful day with ex-Luv' singers Marga Scheide and José Hoebee. A photo of them was posted on the Official Luv's Fan Page on Facebook. We would like to thank René for sharing this beautiful picture.

René is special in the history of the trio. In the 2000s, he was the administrator of the very first official fan page of Luv' on Clubs.nl. He also developed nice projects with the ladies. In association with Universal Music, he was involved in the release of the double CD compilation "25 Jaar Na Waldolala" (2003) and the "Completely In Luv" box set (2006). He also facilitated the launch of the "Back In Luv" DVD with Princess Entertainment in 2006. Last year, he wrote two columns about Luv' after Chimène van Oosterhout joined the group. Click here and here to read them.
The latest issue of the celebrity gossip magazine Weekend Zomerspecial (summer edition) features an article about Luv's father and legendary record producer Hans van Hemert. In addition to his house in Blaricum, the Netherlands, the music Maestro is renting two villas out: one in Marthomis, South of France (€1750 per week) and one in Bali, Indonesia (€2050 per week). Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, tourists cancelled their stay at Van Hemert's holiday homes and they all received a refund. At the moment, no profits are made. However, personnel and maintenance costs are maintained. How long will this uncomfortable situation last?

Patty's dive on Sterren Springen in the opening credits of Promenade before its removal
Promenade is a satirical TV program on NTR/NPO 3. According to NPO Plus and Dutch media news website Mediacourant.nl, the excerpt from Patty Brard's infamous dive on Sterren Springen was recently removed from Promenade's opening credits. An anonymous source told that the diva demanded it. Ever since La Brard lost 40 kilos after her gastric bypass and tried to change her image, she forbids all the images of her looking fat.
However, in 2012, the situation was different. Patty's funny performance on SBS6's celebrity diving competition Sterren Springen saved her career on television (see news posted on August 29th, 2012). At the time, the former Luv' singer had no TV show. Her failed dive was used by Eyeworksas a publicity stunt to promote "Celebrity Splash" (the international name of the "Sterren Springen" format) abroad. The diving competition was sold to 25 major TV channels around the world including ABC (USA), TF1 (France) and Seven Network (Australia) - see news posted on October 12th, 2012. Moreover, Patty took advantage of the success of Sterren Springen and eventually signed an exclusive contract with SBS6. She later admitted that it also had been a painful experience. Many viewers dissed her due to her overweight. She also suffered from physical pain due to injuries. Whether she likes it or not she must accept that Splashgot her career back on track.
Earlier this month, SBS6's entertainment news program Shownieuws revealed that mobile phone numbers of celebrities (including Eva Jinek, Peter R. de Vries and Patty Brard) were leaked on the internet. The incident happened via Lusha, an Israeli-American Chrome extension affiliated with LinkedIn profiles. The famous victims of this leak have taken legal action against Lusha to solve their problems.
This week saw Patty Brard's comeback on SBS6's entertainment news program Shownieuws as a showbiz expert after ten days in quarantine due to her holidays in Ibiza. The Dutch government applied code orange (related to Covid-19) to new destinations including Ibiza. The diva and her husband, Antoine van de Vijver had a Covid-19 test which was negative and proved that they were healthy (see news posted on August 20th, 2020).
On August 26th, Shownieuws (featuring Patty Brard) drew379.000 viewers (market share: 14%). Before the broadcast of the TV program, a camera crew filmed the ex-Luv' singer dancing backstage with her colleague Dyantha Brooks without respecting the social distancing measures related to the coronavirus. The following day, Dutch media news website Mediacourant.nl mentioned this inappropriate and impromptu dance between the two TV hosts. It seemed that Patty forgot what she said last month. At that time, she wanted stricter rules related to the face masks in the Netherlands (see news posted on July 18th, 2020).

The larger than life media personality was also present on Shownieuws yesterday (423.000 viewers/market share: 11.7%). Patty criticized Rachel Hazes who according to her didn't deal correctly with problems within her family. Recently, Rachel's daughter-in-law Monique Westenberg gave an interview on one condition: to avoid questions about Rachel. Patty regretted the tensions within the Hazes clan. "What a pity! I was on good terms with all the family members but then things changed after my wedding ceremony," La Brard said. The SBS6 star referred to the incident involving Bridget Maasland and André Hazes Jr.at her wedding party six years ago (see news posted on April 23th, 2020). Five years later, the two lovebirds were romantically involved but later André came back to Monique. To denigrate Monique, Rachel posted on Instagram a video of her singing along to Ga Jij Maar Door (You keep on going on), a song by her late husband André Hazes. Patty didn't understand Rachel's motivation. "I think what mother Rachel did is a shame. She posted a song which makes me wonder why she did it. She seems a bit angry...it is negative," Miss Brard told. However, the Shownieuws star praised Roxeanne Hazes (Rachel's daughter and André Jr's sister). "I want to add something. I really respect Roxeanne because she has never discussed her family feud," Patty explained.
Today SBS6 celebrates its 25th anniversary. This commercial TV channel was launched on August 28th, 1995 and has been owned by Talpa Network (John de Mol's media company) since 2017. Dutch average families are its target audience; that's why SBS6 has often been nicknamed the "campingzender" (camping channel).
Patty Brard has been active on SBS6 for more than 13 years (with a one-year hiatus in 2011/2012).
Act 1: Patty's early years on SBS6 (2007 - 2011)
The diva's relationship with the TV network started with her funny performance on the figure skating competition Sterren Dansen Op Het Ijs in January 2007. It was a heavily covered media event and relaunched her TV career.

After a 15-year partnership with RTL Nederland, Pattysigned a contract with SBS and was involved in several shows:
* Shownieuws (an entertainment news program she co-hosted with Viktor Brandfrom February 2007 to May 2011).
Patty & Viktor on Shownieuws (2009)
* De Nieuwe Uri Geller (the Dutch version of the Israeli paranormal talent contest The Successor (which was high in the ratings in 2008-2009). She was a regular guest on the first season, co-hosted the second season with Tooske Ragas and the third edition withBeau van Erven Dorens. She was also part of a jury on the 2010 edition.

* The second season of Coming to Holland: Prins zoekt vrouw, the Dutch version of Undercover Princes aired between November 2010 and January 2011.
In April 2011, Sanoma and Talpa took over SBS Nederland. One month later, Patty's deal was not extended. In September and October 2001, the "enfant terrible of Dutch showbiz" appeared on RTL 4's reality show Diva's draaien door with Patricia Paay and Tatjana Simic.

La Brard's participation in SBS6's celebrity diving competition Sterren Springen op Zaterdagcaused a sensation in late August 2012 and put her in the limelight again. Her failed dive was used as a publicity stunt to promote Celebrity Splash (the international name of Sterren Springen) and to sell the format to 25 TV networks around the world.
January 2013 saw Patty's comeback on Shownieuws as a showbiz expert. At that time, the diva worked as a freelance TV host for RTL 5 (on reality shows Wie is de Reisleider?, Echte Meisjes op de Prairie and Lust, Liefde Of Laten Lopen) and SBS6 (on Shownieuws and as a judge on the ski jumping competition Vliegende Hollanders: Sterren van de Schans).
Act 2: Patty's second wave on SBS6 (2013 - 2017)
From late August 2013 to late August 2017, Patty had an exclusive contract with SBS6. In addition to the popular Shownieuws, she scored a string of hits and flops on the channel:
Show Vandaag (2013-2014) - infotainment program
Bonje Met de Buren (2014–2016) - a reality show hosted with Jochem van Gelder to solve problems between neighbours
Patty's Big Fat Ibiza Wedding (2014) - a reality show which showed the preparations for her wedding with Dutch architect Antoine van de Vijver
Mindmasters Live (2015) - paranormal show featuring Uri Geller and Patty as a panellist
Thuis op Zondag (2016) - Sunday talk show
Met de Deur in Huis(2016) - comedy panel game show hosted byKees Tol and Tineke Schouten with Patty as a panellist
De Wereld Rond In 6 Stappen (on SBS6's sister channel Net 5, 2016) - reality program about the theory of "six degrees of separation" with Bridget Maasland
Mud Masters VIP (2016) - challenging obstacle course based on military training with celebrities
SBS Sterren Surprise (2016) - a Christmas program featuring TV personalities who fulfilled the dreams of people
Stem van Nederland (2017) - a political program related to the general elections in the Netherlands
Between September 2017 and March 2019, Patty was freelancing again for several channels including:
NPO 3: NTR's documentary series "Brard & Jekel: VetGelukkig?!" (co-hosted with Diederik Jekel - about weight issues) in the autumn of 2018.
RTL:
The entertainment news section "De Week van Patty" as part of the talk show RTL Late Night met Twan Huys as a showbiz expert on RTL 4 in late 2018.
The celebrity photography competition Het Perfecte Plaatje in November and December 2018 on RTL 4.
The reality show Hotter Than My Daughter in early 2019 on RTL 5.
TLC:
The reality program Expeditie Schoonmoeder in 2019.
Act 3: Patty's so-called renaissance on SBS6 (2019 - present)
Patty often expressed satisfaction of working for SBS6 in interviews and on social media.
Last year, La Brard signed a 4-year deal with Talpa TV (which owns SBS6, Net5, SBS9 and Veronica). This signature felt like a revenge for the ex-Luv' singer after Talpa got rid of her in 2017 considering her as "not fruity and fresh anymore". In 2018, Patty underwent a gastric bypass and lost 40 kilos. This drastic weight loss was combined with a change in her public image. The once turbulent drama queen of Dutch showbiz tried to change into a nice and relaxed TV personality.

Since her return on SBS6, the TV shows hosted by Patty have been disappointing in terms of viewing figures:
The infotainment program 6 inside was a complete failure.
Jan Versteegh, Patty Brard and Albert Verlinde on 6 Inside (2019)
The repair show Zo Goed Als Nieuw scored mediocre TV ratings last Autumn (except the episode featuring the Meiland family whose presence boosted the viewing figures).
The celebrity figure skating competition Dancing On Ice had a promising start. The two first episodes were successful but the next ones lost the ratings war against the other TV networks.
Winston Gerschtanowitz and Patty Brard: the golden duo of Dancing On Ice (December 2019)
Before Christmas 2019, in a broadcast of AD Media Podcast, Dutch TV columnist Angela de Jong told that the recruitment of Patty Brard as a co-host on Net5's talk show "Ladies Night" was the death blow to this program.
The travel show Patty en Gordon op zoek naar de eeuwige jeudg has not reached the desired results.

Moreover, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the daily talk show she was supposed to co-host with Gordon was shelved.
At the moment, Shownieuws is the only TV project that keeps her active on SBS6.
Once again, José Hoebee is the target of the Dutch tabloid press. The latest issue of Weekend magazine features a sensationalist article about the former Luv' singer. Click here to read an excerpt. José has been suffering from a mysterious disease for one year and has often discussed her health problems in the press.
The celebrity gossip magazine illustrates its article with an unflattering picture of José. Don't forget that this publication has often published anti-Luv' content and that Patty Brard wrote weekly columns for seven years in Weekend. Patty has often used her strong influence in the media to destroy the girl group that made her the star she is today.
According to Weekend, José's colleagues and friends worry about health. The songstress is described as "the shadow of her former self". Earlier this summer, she informed her fans about her situation via Facebook and asked them for help (see news posted on August 12th, 2020). To make things worse, José lost her sister Marijke who recently died of lung cancer (see news posted on August 12th, 2020).
Her ex-Luv' colleague Chimène van Oosterhout told Weekend: "I spoke to her after her sister's death. José is not doing so well, there is not much improvement".
40 years ago exactly, Ria Thielsch gave her first performance with Luv' as a replacement for Patty Brard. Despite this promising start with Marga Scheide and José Hoebee, it took several weeks before Ria became a permanent member of the group.
When Patty leftLuv'unexpectedly in July 1980, there was a dark cloud on the horizon. The Dutch press and the fans didn't understand the reason for this departure. On the surface, Patty, Margaand José seemed happy. They had been so successful since 1978. But tensions appeared between the ladies behind the scenes (see article posted on July 26th, 2020). Actually, Patty was romantically involved with Italian record producer Carlo Nasi who lived and worked in Los Angeles, CA (far away from Europe where the group was active and popular). She was fed up with Luv's hectic schedule which was very hard to combine with her private life. She only communicated with the other girls and her manager through her lawyer. Because she suffered from stress, her doctor decided that she had to be on sick leave for a month. This sad news was terrible for Luv'as the trio had big plans for the future (including a promo tour in the USSR, a participation in the Yamaha Music Festival in Japan and the filming of a TV series). All of a sudden, these projects had to be cancelled. When it became clear that Pattywould not come back, a replacement had to be found. The owner of a club in Zevenhuizen, the Netherlands threatened Luv'to start legal action if the ladies did not perform. The group might pay 50.000 Dutch guilders if they didn't sing. To avoid this penalty, a new girl had to be recruited. Photo model Ria Thielsch (29 years old at the time) was chosen. Marga Scheideknew her when she was modelling before Luv'. Like Patty, Ria had Indonesian and New Guinean origins and looked the same. She started to rehearse with her new colleagues shortly after Patty's defection. Meanwhile, record producer Hans van Hemert and manager Pim ter Linde confirmed to the press that Luv'would go on whatever the line-up. In an interview published in De Telegraaf on August 19th, Van Hemert explained that five singles (recorded with Patty) were scheduled for release and that her illness caused Luv'to lose thousands of guilders. So the end of the group was out of the question.
At first, Luv's team was reluctant to Ria's recruitment due to her resemblance to Patty. Her performance in Zevenhuizen on August 22nd was supposed to be a one-off. One day after this show, the press mentioned Patty's replacement and even misspelt her name (Ria Thiel, Ria Tiel or Ria Tiels instead of Ria Thielsch).
Ria Thielsch's first show with Luv' on August 22nd, 1980 in Zevenhuizen, the Netherlands
Here's what Pim ter Linde told De Telegraaf in its August 30th, 1980 edition: "In mid-September, we will make a decision about Luv's future. We will go on anyways. Luv' will keep on singing and it will happen with Patty or with another girl we are still looking for". In the same article, it was announced that Patty Brard had a meeting with record executive Bart van der Laar (who was launching a new label called TTR at the time with his business partner, Ruud Wijnants). Previously, Van der Laarand Wijnants worked at CNR (a record company affiliated with Carrere) and signed a lucrative deal with Luv' in October 1979. The fact that Patty met Van der Laar implied that she might work with him on a solo project. But it didn't happen. Patty went solo in early 1981 without Van der Laar. The flamboyant record producer died tragically months later. His death caused a sensation in Holland and led to one of the most famous cases in Dutch judicial history (see article posted on July 20th, 2020).
Despite Ria's promising show with Luv', auditions with 200 other applicants were held but none of them could compete with her. Finally, she was allowed to be a member of Luv' in September 1980 after Patty's lawyer announced that her client left the trio definitively. But that's another story.....

Nieuwsblad van het Noorden - August 22nd, 1980: Luv' will be performing in Zevenhuizen with a replacement for Patty
On August 15th, the Dutch government applied code orange (related to Covid-19) to new destinations including Brussels, Ibiza, Madrid, Paris and the Bouches-du-Rhône department in France. The Dutch are urgently advised by the government to go into quarantine for 14 days upon returning home from one of the areas.
Patty Brard recently spent holidays on Ibiza. Three days ago, the diva announced on Instagram that her husband and she were back in Amstelveen, the Netherlands and had a Covid-19 test which was negative and that they were healthy. However, the former Luv' singer will be in quarantine for one week instead of two. It means that she will miss some broadcasts of SBS6's entertainment news program Shownieuws.
Patty recently told De Telegraaf that her employer Talpa TV was not angry at her as these governmental rules were decided all of a sudden. "At Talpa, they respect these decisions. If I have to be in quarantine, I just have to do it," La Brard explained. "Because of my mother and my co-workers, I have to obey the authorities. But I'll return to work immediately after the quarantine is over," she added.
Last Spring, Patty was on lockdown in Ibiza at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic (see news posted on March 21st, 2020). Eight weeks later, she was back in Holland (see news posted on May 15th, 2020).
Recently, on Instagram, Patty Brard criticized Diana Gabriels (who runs a plastic surgery clinic in Barendrecht, the Netherlands) after watching her on BNNVARA's reality show BOOS (hosted by Tim Hofman). "She is a swindler," the former Luv' singer wrote about the beauty consultant.
Last year, Gabriels had her own reality series entitled Plastisch Fantastisch that Linda de Mol offered her on Net5. This TV program flopped. Moreover, Tim Hofman shed light on Gabriels swindle as a so-called plastic surgery expert.
Two years ago, Patty already denounced Diana Gabriels after she reposted without her consent on Instagram an article (initially published in Story magazine) about her gastric bypass (see news posted on March 11th, 2018).
