Patty's column about Hugo Borst

Patty Brard's latest column for Weekend magazine deals with Hugo Borst, a Dutch writer, editor, TV personality and critic (best known for his football critiques). In 2015, he published the book entitled "Ma" (later adapted into a play) in which he described the dementia of his mother. After his letter to Dutch State Secretary Martin van Rijn in 2016, he launched a manifesto to improve the situation of elderly people. Earlier this year, he put out another book "Ach, Moedertje" dealing with the same issues.

Hugo's situation with his mother reminded the ex-Luv' singer of what she had been through with her family. Patty's sister, Debby, forbids her brother Dennis and her to visit their parents. A couple of years ago, Patty's father and mother wanted to live close to her in Amsterdam. Her husband Antoine and she helped them with several tasks (administration, finance and accommodation). After Patty's father died, the diva found out that Debby and her lawyer made him sign a document to specify that his wife and he refused to see Patty and her brother. La Brard is surprised that such statement could be decided and is convinced that her parents were misled due to dementia.
