2015 in review

Press launch of "The Story of Luv" with Hans Klok, José Hoebee, Peter Boonstra, Ria Thielsch, Marga Scheide and Hans van Hemert on May 1st 

What happened in 2015?

• This year saw the release of the long-awaited photo book "The Story of Luv" (written by Peter Boonstra and supported by Marga Scheide and José Hoebee). The release party of the publication took part at the Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum, NL in early May. The ladies and Ria Thielsch (member of the 1980-1981 line-up) were present. Unfortunately, Patty Brard wanted to ban the book. Shortly afterwards, Peter was obliged to stop the sale of the book. What a pity!
• José gave sporadic live performances and interviews in the media. She attended showbiz events or private parties with Marga. Moreover, she was interviewed by American author James Arena for his book entitled "Stars of 80s Dance Pop"
• Patty was still busy on SBS 6 (Shownieuws, Bonje met de buren...). In August, she extended her contract with the TV network for two years. 
• In late October, the media speculated about a comeback of Luv'. Actually, a German talent agency announced on its website that Marga and José could be booked as Luv' for live shows. To this day, nothing has been decided yet. 
• In addtion to the press launch of Luv's book and the fan club meeting in May, Ria celebrated the second day of Christmas with José and Marga.

Bonnie & José: reconciliation

Bonnie St. Claire and José Hoebee formed a duo in the 1980s to perform cover versions of ABBA songs in Dutch. Since May 2014, they had not been in good terms. But in early January, they had a phone conversation and came to the conclusion that they were still friends.

Preparations for Luv's book / Feud over the "Story of Luv".

Prior to the release of "The Story of Luv'", there were several stages (revelations, the launch of a special website and a Facebook page, articles in tabloids and celebrity news websites, the announcement of Matt Pop's remixes included on the CD compilation released with the biography....). Months before the publication, Patty Brard announced that she wanted to ban the book. She started an argument with José Hoebee, Marga Scheide and the author (Peter Boonstra).

Shownieuws: boost in viewing figures and broadcast on SBS 9 on UEFA Champion League days

Patty Brard has been working as a showbiz expert on "Shownieuws" for several years. In January, SBS 6's entertainment news show underwent a transformation. This strategy paid off: it gave a boost to viewing figures. Moreover, due to SBS Broadcasting B.V's coverage of the UEFA Champions League, the TV channel decided to move "Shownieuws" to SBS 9 on the days that football was broadcast on SBS 6.

José Hoebee was interviewed by American author James Arena for his book "Stars of 80s Dance Pop -The European Edition" (featuring artists who were very popular on European charts in the 1980s: Pete Burns of Dead or Alive, Thomas Anders of Modern Talking, Sabrina Salerno, Amii Stewart, Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli, Leee John of Imagination, Liz Mitchell of Boney M....). José discussed her glory years with Luv' and her solo career.

Ad van Genechten, singer of Dommelfolk (a folk band from North Brabant) and José's best friend, died in April at age 68.

2014 saw the comeback of the reality series "Bonje met de buren" (Trouble with neighbours) on SBS 6. The program was hosted by Patty Brard and Jochem van Gelder who joined forces to solve problems between neighbours. In 2015, "Bonje" was still successful...

Patty's collaboration with Joey Hartkamp

In April, Patty Brard recorded a song with her SBS 6 colleague Jochem van Gelder and Joey Hartkamp (son of Dutch producer Emile Hartkamp). The track was named after Pat's TV program "Bonje met de buren" (Trouble with the neighbours). The single was available for download. Six months later, Patty took part in the shooting of Hartkamp's music video "Chic a Bang Bang".

The Story of Luv': press launch and release party

José, Ria & Marga reunited!!!

On May 1st, the press launch of "The Story of Luv" (the long-awaited biography written by Peter Boonstra including exclusive pictures) took place at the Wisseloord Studios in Hilverseum, NL. The author of the book, José Hoebee and Marga Scheide were present but also Ria Thielsch (member of Luv's line-up in 1980), Hans van Hemert (who created the group) and Dutch illusionist Hans Klok (who hosted the event). 

The day after this event, a meet'n greet afternoon with fans combined with a release party were held in the same location.

The Story of Luv': banned from sale/crowdfunding campaign to print a revised edition

Peter Boonstra, author of "The Story of Luv", interrupted the sale of his book shortly after its release. The conflict between Patty and Peter (supported by Marga and José) dealt with pictures published without authorization according to the SBS 6 diva. Actually, Universal Music gave Peter written permission to use the photos. For a short period of time, there was hope to start the sale again as long as legal issues were not solved. Finally, Peter was obliged to destroy the whole printing of his wonderful book. Photographer Herman Erik Kuiper and his partner Stephan Wijnen decided to start a crowdfunding campaign to print a revised edition excluding the incriminated pictures.

Patty's new contract with SBS 6

August 20th saw the press presentation of the new season of SBS 6 at ARTIS in Amsterdam. The stars of the Dutch TV channel (including Patty Brard, Gerard Joling, K3, Bridget Maasland, Viktor Brand and Airen Mylene) attended the event and posed for photographs. At the same time, La Brard extended her contract with SBS 6 for two years. In recent years, the diva has been involved in several popular TV formats (Sterren Springen op Zaterdag, Shownieuws, Bonje met de Buren....)

The September 2015 issue of ABBA Fan Club Magazine featured an interview with José Hoebee. She discussed several subjects including "Herinnering" (the 1985 album featuring Dutch cover versions of ABBA songs in duet with Bonnie St. Claire) and the "ABBAcadabra" TV musical.

Luv's so-called comeback

In late October, the media announced that Marga Scheide and José Hoebee could be booked as Luv' (without Patty Brard) for performances in Germany by Wild Heart Management. Some media even mentioned Ria Thielsch who might join the ladies to reform Luv'. However, it's too soon to talk about a real comeback.

Patty Brard in the jury of "Mindmasters Live"

In November, Patty was briefly a member of the jury of SBS 6's talent show "Mindmasters Live". She had to judge the acts of 16 mentalists from the teams of Walter Rolfo and Uri Geller. After two broadcasts, the program was removed from SBS 6 schedule because of bad viewing figures.
