Ad van Genechten, singer of Dommelfolk (a folk band from North Brabant) and José Hoebee's best friend, died yesterday at age 68. He formed in 1969 the folk quartet "Young Tradition" with José and her sisters.
Bert Spin (accordionist of Dommelfolk) announced the sad news of his Facebook page. The group reached its peak in the late 1970s and early 1980s (mainly in the region of Eindhoven, Southern Netherlands). They also did gigs abroad (including Hungary). In later years, Ad and his colleagues performed sporadically. Sometimes José made guest appearances at their concerts (see news posted on Januray 17th, 2015).
