The Common Linnets
In her latest column published in Weekend Magazine, Patty Brard apologizes to the Common Linnets (a country-pop duo formed by Ilse DeLange and Waylon who reached the second place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 / see news posted on May, 2014). At first, the diva didn't believe in the potential of their song "Calm after the storm". Patty felt obliged to admit her mistake. Many other Dutch media personalities (including Paul de Leeuw, Albert Verlinde, Eric van Tijn and Evert Santegoeds) strongly critcized the track before its good performance at the ESC.
However, José Hoebee supported The Common Linnets from the start.
Ilse and Waylon are doing much better than winner Conchita Wurst in terms of music sales. "Calm after the Storm" is currently #9 on the British singles' charts and has topped the download list in Belgium, Denmark, Ireland and eight other countries so far. By contrast, Austrian drag act Wurst is 17th in the UK.
