On the May 1st broadcast, Miss Brard told that due to her age she would not take part in the 2021 edition of SBS6's talent show K2 zoekt K3. On February 9th, 2021, singer Klaasje Meijer announced her departure from the popular Flemish-Dutch girl trio K3. The group's label Studio 100 will cast a new member via a televised audition. It's the third time that a new K3 singer will be chosen this way. These well-publicized auditions always attract millions of viewers in the Netherlands and Flanders. In 2009, Kathleen Aert left the group and was replaced by Josje Huisman who was cast on "K2 zoekt K3" (featuring Patty on the jury and broadcast on SBS6 in Holland and VTM in Belgium).

In 2015, the K3 singers were replaced by a new line-up consisting of Hanne Verbruggen, Klaasje Meijer and Marthe De Pillecyn via the talent show "K3 Zoekt K3". Patty briefly appeared on the program as a guest (see news posted on November 7th, 2015).
This year on the new season of K2 Zoekt K3, all genders are qualified to join the group. Patty explained on Shownieuws that she wouldn't be part of the jury. "I would have liked it, but I did not receive a call. I think they want someone younger," the 66-year-old TV diva said. When asked if former K3 member Josje Huisman was a good candidate for the jury, Patty replied: "Josje doesn't seem to be the best for that. She was part of the group for six years but was also known as the most difficult K3 singer ever". La Brard added that she was impressed by K3. "I was on the jury when we did K2 zoekt K3 and we eventually found Josje. I really noticed what happened backstage. These girls had to perform very much. Musically it was not easy as it seemed. They had to be able to sing and dance well," the former Luv' singer asserted. Even if she was not recruited as a member of the jury this year, Patty told that she would watch the new season of K2 zoekt K3 and that she was curious to know if boys would be selected for the new line-up.
On the May 3rd broadcast of Shownieuws, Patty explained how World War II had affected her family as Holland was about to commemorate the Remembrance of the Dead (Dodenherdenking) the following day. On May 4th, the Netherlands commemorate all civilians and members of the armed forces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands who have died in wars or peacekeeping missions since the beginning of the Second World War. Here's what Patty said on that occasion: "My parents are from the Dutch East Indies (currently Indonesia) and my father was a prisoner in a Japanese camp. He survived that, unlike some of his brothers. He has since passed away". This sad story had consequences on her family. Eating sushi in a Japanese restaurant was forbidden. "My father really suffered from the war that we didn't talk about it at home. I think it's very Indonesian: if you ignore something, it doesn't exist. We never went to a Japanese restaurant together," the SBS6 star added.
On the May 5th edition of Shownieuws, Patty and her colleagues expressed their opinion on the entries in the competition for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. Patty thought that the Georgian song was "motherfucking boring". However, she liked the tracked representing Israel. "I love it. It's fantastic that such a girl of Ethiopian descent can represent Israel. I would give her an 8 (out of 10)!" she declared referring to the Israelian singer Eden Alene. The ESF will be held at Rotterdam Ahoy and will consist of two semi-finals on May 18th and 20th, and the final on May 22nd, 2021. The three live shows will be hosted by Chantal Janzen, Edsilia Rombley, Jan Smit and Nikkie de Jager on NPO 1.
In addition to Shownieuws on television, Patty had the privilege to replace Dyantha Brooks to co-host the Shownieuws podcast with Bart Ettekoven. Click here to listen to the podcast posted online yesterday. Several showbiz issues were discussed.
Bart & Patty
Dutch celebrities were interviewed on the phone by Patty and Bart: Snollebollekes singer Rob Kemps about his game show The Wheel on SBS6, private detective Sander van Betten about his special relationship with Erica Meiland, André Hazes about pregnancy rumours with his new girlfriend Sarah van Soelen and his contact with his ex Monique Westenberg.
Patty also talked about Bridget Maasland who misbehaved at her wedding party.
At 36:30, Patty mentioned Luv'. "Recently, I told that I didn't want to be remembered as a Luv' singer. It was a negative period. I want to keep my distance from it. Anytime I try to make it up with José and give her a helping hand, a third party of the group stands between us. I blocked everything. To me, it's over," she said.
The larger than life TV personality described her current situation: "I will soon get a Pfizer vaccine. I'm under contract with SBS6 for two years. I'm very satisfied with Shownieuws. I'm also very proud of recent projects I developed: my lifestyle collection with Kruidvat, my alcohol-free Champagne, my work with Sonja Bakker..."
