Michel van Egmond and his partner Antoinnette Scheulderman have been following and interviewing the diva for months for their book entitled "Patty: de negen levens van Patty Brard". Their long-awaited publication will come out on March 25th, on Patty's 65th birthday. The SBS6 star was supposed to present her biography on NPO 1's talk show De Wereld Draait Door on that special day (see news posted on February 18th, 2020). Moreover, a release party of the book and birthday festivities were expected to take place in a hotel in Amsterdam. But due to the coronavirus, all these events were cancelled (see news posted on March 14th, 2020). Patty is now on total lockdown in Ibiza with her husband Antoine and her two dogs (see previous post).

De Telegraaf has published excerpts from Van Egmond and Scheulderman's book.

Here's what Patty says about several touchy issues:

On Luv': "Marga has always acted as if she was Luv' on her own. She likes to be the centre of attention. Whereas she was vocally the worse. José agreed on that too and she preferred to sing with me. José suffered from the situation".

On Dolly Dots: "Angela Groothuizen has always thought she was above the others. The other members looked gorgeous".

On her collaboration with Gordon with whom she participated recently in a travel show for SBS6: "The fourth day of taping was always hard. We had the blues. But we also laughed and joked a lot".

Patty's relationship with her family is also a central theme in the book. She is not on speaking terms with her daughter Priscilla but there is also another big family feud. She has been legally in conflict with her sister for five years and she is not allowed to see her 90-year-old mother Gerda who suffers from senile dementia and lives in a retirement home in The Hague (see news posted on March 11th, 2020). Patty hired Dutch lawyer Bénédicte Ficq to find a solution.

Just before the book was sent to the printer, Patty's lawyer could arrange a meeting between the diva and her mother. Patty's brother Dennis and her husband Antoine were present too. This emotional moment is included in the book:

"It's 2.08 pm on a Saturday afternoon on the outskirts of The Hague. After years of conflict, it seems that Patty will be able to meet her mother again..."Jesus," she said when she recognized her mother. Eye contact followed. "Hiii," Patty said in a calm voice. Her mother first laughed. Then a surprised expression appeared on her face.

Mother and daughter kissed. Three times in slow motion.

Patty: Isn't it nice?

Her mother laughed. "Wow," she said.

Patty: It's been a long time, isn't it mum?

Mother: Well

PattyYou didn't expect that, right?

Mother: No"

This reunion happened before Patty's lockdown. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the larger-than-life entertainer and her mother are separated once again.

Here's what La Brard posted earlier today on Instagram:

Patty's book also includes her encounters with superstars such as Alfred Heineken, Freddy Mercury, David Bowie and Robbie Williams
