Breaking news: the Luv' ladies stop!

Earlier today, Brigitte Vis (of the Jan Vis booking agency) and David Hay Gibson (tour manager) announced the break-up of Luv'!!! This difficult decision has been taken due to the fact that the trio has been inactive since September because of José Hoebee's ill health. It remained uncertain when the group could return to the stage. That's why the ladies decided to call it a day!

Dutch media covered this news:

I would like to thank all the fans. Without them, no Luv'!

Thank you Luv' (Marga Scheide, José Hoebee and Chimène van Oosterhout) for the joy you brought us!

Thanks Marco Rens for our collaboration on the Official Luv' Page on Facebook.

Thanks David Hay Gibson for your incredible input as a tour manager!!

Thanks Brigitte Vis and Koen De Smet for the live performances in the Netherlands and Belgium!!!

José can now focus on her recovery. Chimène continues her activities in the media and Marga can go on with her trips.

In 1976, Luv' was the brainchild of record producer Hans van Hemert in association with manager Han Meijer (later replaced by Pim ter Linde) and songwriter Piet Souer. Three lovely girls were recruited: Patty Brard, Marga Scheide and José Hoebee. The trio's debut single "My Man" peaked at #12 in Holland and #10 in Belgium in 1977. They became big in their homeland with their third single "U.O.Me" which was the theme song of a high-rated TV series. Their international breakthrough happened in the autumn of 1978 thanks to the #1 song "You're the Greatest Lover". They scored hit after hit (Trojan Horse, Casanova, Ooh Yes I Do...) for a couple of years in a large part of Continental Europe, South Africa, New Zealand and Mexico. In August 1980, Patty was replaced by Ria Thielsch. In March 1981, the group announced their first dissolution. In 1989, Marga reformed the pop act with two other vocalists. The original line-up made two comebacks: in 1993 (with the release of the Luv' Gold compilation and a memorable show at De iT club in Amsterdam) and in 2006 with a profusion of projects (a reality TV show, a box set including 4 original albums, three mega shows as guest stars of De Toppers, many gigs....). In 2012, the original Luv' group disbanded again.

In 2016, José, Marga and Ria decided to resurrect Luv'. They toured the nostalgia circuit in the Low Countries successfully. Last year, Dutch media personality Chimène van Oosterhout replaced Ria. The renewed trio recorded a reggaeton single entitled "With Him Tonight" in Miami, Fl with Latin Grammy-nominated producers Keith Morrison and Manuel Lecca-Garrido

The formation sold 7 million records, earned 15 gold and platinum awards and won a Dutch export prize in 1979. The singers can be proud of their achievements!!

Despite the group's break-up, I will go on with the blog and I will discuss the solo activities of the girls.
