Will Hoebee & Sheila
Recently, Luv' friend Marco Rens sent me a nice article published in Dutch teen magazine "Hitkrant" exactly forty years ago on January 9th, 1980 and related to French pop star Sheila and Dutch record producer Will Hoebee.

In 1979, Luv' and Sheila were label mates at Carrere Records. Sheila and Will Hoebee (who started to date Luv' singer José at the time) posed for a photograph backstage at ZDF's New Year's Eve show "Jetzt geht die Party richtig los". In 1975, Will co-wrote and produced with Peter Koelewijn the pop hit "Patrick Mon Chéri" by Kiki and Pearly. In 1976, Sheila covered the track in French and had a hit record with it (400.000 copies sold in France). The picture of Sheila and Will was to commemorate the success of Patrick Mon Chéri.

Sheila, Luv' and many other pop-disco acts (Boney M, Eruption, Village People, Ritchy Family...) performed on the same New Year's Eve TV show on the German channel ZDF. Sheila and her colleagues of B. Devotion sang their signature song "Spacer" and Luv' performed their pop classics "Ooh, Yes I Do" and "Casanova".

The Hitkrant article told a strange story about Sheila. The French chanteuse is described as difficult. The director of the New Year's Eve show never saw any performance of Sheila & B.Devotion. The singer wanted first to show him a videotape of the group. Sheila sent him the tape by private jet. But the director received the wrong video so the good one had to be sent by plane again! This story happened when the internet did not exist and record companies had money!
