Patty Brard on "Hotter Than My Daughter"



The new season of RTL 5's reality program "Hotter Than My Daughter" (hosted by Patty Brard) premiered on February 27th and drew 371.000 viewers (market share: 6.2%). It didn't reach the SKO's Dag Top 25 (the daily list of the 25 most popular programs conceived by Dutch audience measurement company Stichting KijkOnderzoek). These viewing figures may seem disappointing for a prime-time TV show. 

Hotter Than My Daughter had to face strong competition with other programs: 
  • Tussen Kunst en Kitsch (NPO 11.420.000 viewers/market share: 23.5%)
  • Football match "Ajax Vs Feyenoord" (FOX1.333.000 viewers/market share: 22.7% and FOX Sports 1: 565.000 viewers/market share: 9.6%)
  • Love Is In The Air (RTL 4 - 803.000 viewers/market share: 13.3%)
However, #HTMD was the most-watched program on RTL 5. The show which was broadcast prior to it (24 Uur in de politiecel UK) attracted 161.000 viewers (market share: 2.9%) and the program which aired afterwards (Blacklist) drew 74.000 viewers (market share: 1.2%)

Before she knew the viewing figures, Patty predicted on Twitter that #HTMD would not win the ratings war. However, the good reactions on social media compensated for the weak commercial performance.

Prior to La Brard, Dutch pop singer and media personality Gordon hosted the show for seven years (2011 - 2018) on RTL 4. The last broadcast of Hotter (featuring the larger than life male celebrity) attracted 769.000 viewers.

To promote the reality show, the diva gave interviews to Dutch newspapers AD and De Telegraaf. She also discussed her make-over show on RTL 4's infotainment program "RTL Boulevard" on February 27th (657.000 viewers/market share: 15.6%).
