"Goede tijden, slechte tijden" (Good times, bad times), also known as GTST, is the longest-running Dutch soap opera, which began on October 1st, 1990 on RTL 4. Yesterday evening, Patty Brard discussed the TV series on SBS 6's entertainment news program "Shownieuws". The diva thought that RTL 4 was not irritated by the controversy about sex scenes on GTST. The TV ratings of the soap opera are under pressure. Some viewers are shocked by sex issues. "I think the TV channel can use that scandal because the viewing figures are not what they used to be," Patty explained. "Some episodes score less than one million viewers. Now they average an audience of 1.2 to 1.3 million. In the past, they drew 1.6 million viewers," she added.
La Brard agreed with some critics: "It's good when it deals with homosexuality or drug abuse but why do we have to watch threesomes and partner swapping? Some youngsters who are just 12 are also watching it. It's nice when they push the envelope but they should have a message."
