25 years ago, Luv' (featuring Marga Scheide as the only original member of the group) gave a memorable show in Dubai to entertain Dutch marines involved in the First Gulf War. This Christmas performance "for the boys" generated lots of publicity in the Netherlands. It was even front-page news in De Telegraaf (Holland's most-read newspaper) on December 15th, 1990.
One year prior to this event, Marga resurrected Luv' without Patty Brard and José Hoebee. She held the copyright on the name of the group and recruited other members: 23-year-old Diana van Berlo (from Helmond, NL) and 28-year-old Michelle Gold (from London, UK). This new line-up scored a Top 30 hit in Holland and Belgium: the dance-pop single "Welcome To My Party" (see article posted on October 21st, 2014). Though the ladies never achieved the level of success of the original trio, they toured the club circuit and appeared frequently on TV.
In the summer of 1990, Michelle was replaced by 20-year old Carina Lemoine.
A couple of months later, the Luv' girls were officially invited by the Koninklijke Marine (Royal Netherlands Navy) to perform in Dubai to support the marines. They followed in the footsteps of The Andrew Sisters, Vera Lynn, Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe or Raquel Welsch who had already entertained soldiers:
