Patty Brard Vs Eyeworks?

The problem with tabloid press and showbiz sites is that you never know if they report reliable news as they are only interested in scandals to keep the public's attention. According to De Telegraaf, AD.nl and other "respectable" sources, Patty Brard might take legal action against Eyeworks which produced the celebrity diving competition "Sterren Springen op Zaterdag" (aka "Celebrity Splash"). The sequence of Patty's failed dive was used to sell the TV format worldwide (see news posted on March 24th 2013). Last month Eyeworks announced big profits mainly due to the international success of "Splash". Compared with 2011, the group’s total turnover for the year 2012 increased 6% to 251 million Euros. The operating profit (EBITDA) climbed slightly to 30.3 million Euros (+ 0.4%). Net profit increased by 10% to 13.9 million Euros in 2012 – the highest profit ever for Eyeworks. According to the gossips, Patty would like a share of this money generated by this triumph.

Eight months after her "performance", the diva goes weekly to the chiropractor and has not heard anything from Eyeworks CEO Reinout Oerlemans. "He claims everywhere that he has been good to me but I haven't received a call yet," the TV personality told AD. "I've never talked to him," she added. Her jurist is studying her contract with the TV production company. "He is going to approach Oerlemans. It's crazy that my remuneration is lower than Mari van de Ven's in "Vliegende Hollanders" (Flying Dutchmen) although he refused to jump!".

RTL Boulevard posted on its website that they called Miss Brard and she explained that finally she might not start legal proceedings. "You have to strike while the iron is hot," she said. Reinout and Patty will negotiate and try to reach an agreement.

What's wright or wrong in this story? The all-around entertainer seemed to be on good terms with Eyeworks. Recently she hosted "Echte Meisjes op de Prairie" (part of the company's catalogue) and she attended the taping of the Spanish version of "Splash!" (see news posted on March 17th 2013).
